Immunocytochemical Localization of Keratin in Carcinomas of the Uterine Cervix

Abstract
|
|
|
Immunocytochemical stainings for keratin were performed in 33 cases of uterine cervix carcinomas by using avidin-biotin-peroxidase complex(ABC) techniques. The results obtained were as follows.
1. All the 8 cases of keratinizing squamous cell carcinoma showed the positive reartion for keratin, among them 6 cases showed strong reaction and 2 cases showed weak reaction.
2. Among the 17 cases of non-keratinizing squamous cell carcinomas, keratin was present in the 14 cases(82.3%), 7 cases showed weak reaction and 7 cases showed strong reaction, respectively.
3. All the 3 cases of adenocarcinoma showed no reaction for the keratin in the tumor tissue.
4. The intensity of keratin stainings in their metastases in regional lymph nodes was similar to that in primary carcinomas of the uterine cervix.
